  I ordered this printer after reading all the good reviews on the internet. It is supposed to be a Multifunction Center. So I was hoping it would print both B&W + Color, which is not the case and HIGHLY disappoints me. The Control Center application never works. The drivers that came along with the printer are outdated. The make of the printer is flimsy to touch.
  
  I have had this multifunction center for just over a week and have only tried faxing. I do not know how copying and scanning will turn out, but it prints pretty fast. I do not see wireless as a big plus, since most of the time the printer would be sitting close to the router in a home office. For the high cost, it should have had the color printing feature. In my opinion for an All-in-one, it sure is not complete.

  I have had this printer for several weeks and I print with a hard wire hook up but I cannot print using my wireless router as it is described in the owners manuel. I have reinstalled the program several times in several different ways with no luck.
  
  I am bummed. You would think it would be easier.

  I run a small law office. The old model would give me 50 copies, SORTED of a 15 page document; this one won’t.
  
  Fatal error-this one will not reliably print envelopes! It worked fine for a few days and then it started to say “jam inside, open cover, remove jam” or some such nonsense. BUT there is no jam inside.
  
  Refusing to give up, I opened, pulled out the gear, returned it, closed the door TWENTY TIMES until it finally printed out an envelope.
  
  Amazon has been made aware and is sending me a new one. I hope they don’t wipe THIS ONE off and give it to you. I read this flaw happened to someone else, he got a new one and it works fine. I wonder if THIS PARTICULAR PRINTER on my desk is like the fruit cake that keeps getting passed from one person to the next.
  
  Thirdly, the toner in the machine when you get it is ridiculously low on toner. After 4 days it is already telling me to prepare a new cartridge. How much would THAT cost if I didn’t recharge them myself (at [...] )
  
  Anyway, if you’re lucky then you’ll get a good model. If you want it to sort when you copy, forget it, hire someone to do it.
  
  If you want it to print envelopes then pray to Obama that you get a good one and not a P.O.S.

  I’ve spent around 8 hours in total trying to make wireless work – it still doesn’t. The windows soft is seem to be written by high school students – I have not seen such ugly unintuitive thing for a long time. Do yourself a favor – go to brother web site to see what you will have to deal with – they don’t have a freaken search!

  UPDATE, 20081008: Two lines are showing up when using the ADF. Can’t seem to figure out where it’s coming from. . . I’m personally never going to buy this machine again due to so many random problems.

  UPDATE, 20080804: The toner on this is expensive/page and you can’t “shake” the toner to get more life out of it! Check out the reviews at:

  I’m a big fan of scanning lots of documents to file away, and having them become Searchable PDFs. The software included with this package DOES NOT have support for this.

  You can get it to do OCR and export it into a Word Document, but that in no way saves the original look of the document.

  You can save as a .pdf, but it’s only a pdf image with no word searching capability.

  The OmniPage software included is only a limited version. The software in it would allow you to create searchable PDFs but you have to buy the full version for $149.

  What’s the point of creating a PDF document if you can’t search the words in it? This is a very basic functionality, that due to be left out makes its scanning capability extremely lacking and that’s why I take two stars off of it.
